General Information

The Award Winning Mock Trial Team at UCF and the UCF Legal Studies Department Present: Knights of the Counsel Table:

Be a Knight of the Counsel Table with the Mock Trial Team at UCF.

Have you always wanted to expertly control the unruly witness on cross examination? To prepare an entertaining witness character that brings judges to laughter or tears? To give a closing argument that rivals that of actual attorneys? Whether you’re new to the arena of Mock Trial, a seasoned competitor, or transitioning from High School to Collegiate Mock Trial, we have something for everyone!

Join us for a week of Mock Trial camp at the beautiful University of Central Florida Campus located in Orlando, Florida. You will learn how to develop an actual Mock Trial case from beginning to end, including:

  • Analyzing a Case
  • Creating a Theme
  • Direct Examinations
  • Cross Examinations
  • Witness Preparation
  • Opening Statements
  • Closing Arguments
  • Evidence
  • Objections
  • Presenting a Mock Trial

Students will attend daily workshops that will not only explain the basics, but will also give them an edge in future competitions. Not only will the award winning Trial Team at UCF members give their insight to the world of mock trial, but students will also benefit from the seasoned experiences of local attorney guest speakers. Students will work in groups based around their experience level to prepare a mock trial case and present it against each other at the end of the week. Members of the Trial Team at UCF will work with and lead these student groups. Several of the Trial Team members not only have collegiate mock trial experience, but also high school mock trial experience, including on a state champion team. Students will learn the tips and tricks that have brought the Trial Team at UCF members success in competitions across the nation.

Meals and all materials are included! On-Campus Room & Board is required.

Cost:
$500 with Housing

 

Scholarship:
Each year one student is awarded a full camp scholarship.
Interested students should prepare the following:

  • Name
  • Contact information
  • A paper (1 page minimum) on "What Mock Trial Means to You"
  • 2 academic letters of recommendation (one demonstrating financial need)

The final deadline to submit your application is June 3rd. The winner of the full scholarship will be notified June 8th.

 

Housing Information:
For the duration of the Camp you will be housed on the UCF campus in the Libra Community and supervised/RA'd by Trial Team members.

 

Student Cap:
24 Student Maximum
All students who do not receive entry into the program will be given a full refund (see refund policy).
